TAA Tools is changing the way they charge for upgrades and updates.
Beginning June 1, 2009, TAA Tools will start a new maintenance fee policy whereby customers pay annual software maintenance fee equal to 20% of the current new license fee. The installed version license includes support, tool updates, new versions, and software upgrades.
Today customers are invoiced an upgrade fee when they upgrade their operating system software to a new version. Many of our TAA Tools customers have expressed a desire for TAA Tool to charge a fee once per year rather than to have a fee “surprise” them as they perform an OS upgrade. This new policy adheres to the fee schedules of IBM and the software industry in general, thus allowing the customer to budget for the annual fee along with other budgeted system items.
Summary of changes from Upgrade pricing to the Annual Software Maintenance Agreement:
The software maintenance fee is equal to 20% of the new license fee for the installed version.
Version upgrade fees will no longer apply to customers covered under the software maintenance agreement.
Customers currently on V6R1 will have an anniversary date of June 1, 2009.
Customers currently on V5R4:
If you upgrade to V6R1 between June 1 and May 31, 2010, the current upgrade fee is applicable and the maintenance anniversary date is the date of the upgrade.
Customers remaining on V5R4 as of June 1, 2010 will have an anniversary date of June 1, 2009.
Customers currently on V5R3
The normal upgrade fee for TAA Tools will be applicable when the OS is upgraded to V5R4 or V6R1 and the maintenance anniversary date is the date of the upgrade.
V5R3 is not a supported release therefore a maintenance fee is not applicable.
If software maintenance is allowed to expire, the software maintenance fee plus a calculated prorated adjustment will be due.
When moving across tiers hardware upgrade fees will remain unchanged.
TAA Tool updates and refreshes will continue to be available.
Customers will receive invoices for software maintenance on their anniversary date beginning June 1, 2010.
Important Note:
IBM support for V5R3 of i5OS was withdrawn on April 30, 2009. Therefore, the April 15, 2009 tools update was the last update for V5R3. TAA Tools encourages you to upgrade your IBM OS and TAA Tools to a supported version.
