DSPTAPSIZ DISPLAY TAPE SIZE TAATAPT

The Display Tape Size command displays or lists an approximation of
how much data has been written to a tape. Each file is listed along
with a total. An outfile is optional. Hardware compression is not
considered. DSPTAP is used to determine the information. Because a
spooled file must be read, only lower and upper case English is
 supported.

an outfile is requested, the model file is TAATAPTP with a format
 name of TAPRCD.

If there are many files on the tape, DSPTAPSIZ can be a very slow
 running command.

 A typical command would be:

              DSPTAPSIZ DEV(xxx)

The tape (or virtual device) is used with the DSPTAP command to
output a spooled file. The spooled file would then be converted to a
QTEMP file and the file read and printed as a spooled file. The
 spooled file is then displayed.

DSPTAPSIZ escape messages you can monitor for
 ---------------------------------------------

None. Escape message from based on functions will be resent.

 DSPTAPSIZ Command parameters *CMD
 ----------------------------

DEV The device where the media exists.

ENDOPT The end of tape option. The default is *REWIND.
                  *UNLOAD may also be specified.

OUTPUT How to output the results. * is the default to
display the spooled file if the command is entered
interactively. The spooled file is deleted after it
                  is displayed.

If the command is entered in batch or *PRINT is
specified, the spooled file is output and retained.

*OUTFILE may be specified to output a data base file
                  with one record per label.

OUTLIB The library in which the file TAPSIZP will be
placed. The default is *LIBL. If the TAPSIZP file
does not already exist, a library must be specified.

OUTMBR The member of the TAPSIZP file to be used. If the
member does not exist, it is added. The default is
                  TAPSIZP.

REPLACE A *YES/*NO value for whether the member should be
cleared before writing records into it. The default
                  is *YES.
